Red Herring
Lewis Uhler, Yes on 75: "The result of this is to level the playing field in Sacramento that has been badly tilted for years."

But under Prop. 75, the playing field may actually tilt more.

The non-profit Institute on Money in State Politics says that last year, California unions accounted for only 5.7 percent of all political contributions in the state. That's less than half the amount given by business interests.

Ken Jacobs, Center for Labor Research and Education at UC Berkeley: "There does not seem to be a major outpouring of workers saying we don't want our dues used. The numbers have always been quite small."

Ken Jacobs heads up the Center for Labor Research and Education at UC Berkeley. He says most union members don't object to political contributions, and those that do, don't have to contribute.

All emphases mine.
